Path of Exile 2 is a next-generation free-to-play action role-playing game from Grinding Gear Games that can accommodate up to 6 players in cooperative play. Path of Exile 2 will launch Early Access on all supported platforms, including PC and consoles, at 11 am PST on December 6.
POE 2’s story takes place in Wraeclast, a dark continent with unique cultures, ancient secrets, and terrible dangers. The game is set against the backdrop of a once-destroyed evil threat that will resurrect and continue to threaten the continent. Players need to equip their characters and builds through various methods, and work with their team to prevent the world of Wraeclast from falling into corruption.
Path of Exile 2 introduces a brand new campaign with 6 acts, 100 different environments, 600 monsters, and 100 bosses. Let’s take a look at the main features in this new sequel:
1. Character Classes
There are 12 character classes in POE 2, each corresponding to a combination of two Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence. While each class focuses on a different playstyle, they are just a starting point. And with three Ascendancies per character class, you can continue to combine skills from many classes to create your ideal character build.
2. New Skill Gem System
Path of Exile 2 introduces a new Skill Gem System with 240 Skill Gems that grant devastating active skills and 200 Support Gems that change their behavior. Players can combine them to create the perfect build.
3. Passive Skill Tree
Path of Exile’s iconic passive skill tree also returns to POE 2, which will provide players with 1,500 skills to fully customize the game experience. And POE 2 features Dual Specialization, the ability to allocate some passive skill points to two different sets of skills.
4. New Equipment Base Types
Path of Exile 2 has 700 equipment base types, each with its own unique items for you to find. You can expand your arsenal with new weapons such as Spears, Crossbows and Flails.
5. Boss Encounters
Each area of the campaign in POE 2 contains a boss encounter. As you progress through the acts, you will encounter over 100 bosses, all with unique mechanics for you to learn.
6. New Endgame System
As the 6 acts campaign comes to an end, you’ll be able to enter the POE 2 endgame. Each endgame map has its own boss fight and modifiers, and you can even enable modified versions of many of POE’s past leagues.
In short, POE 2 is a different game from the original POE, but the continued story and the addition of new features allow you to return to the dark and terrifying continent of Wraeclast while having a brand new game experience!
